While conducting the biennial review of the Guidelines in 2022-2023, the Telluride Housing Authority Subcommittee determined it would be desirable to have a similar central document to help guide staff, tenants, and prospective tenants regarding the rules for qualifying for living in Town-Constructed Rental Units and how these properties will be managed.

The first step in the process was to gather information from Community Services Director DeLanie Tapson, who oversees the Housing Department, to determine what changes, if any, are needed to the existing occupancy and qualification criteria to fit the current community's needs better with respect to income limitations and minimum employment requirements. This information was presented at the November 2023 THA Subcommittee meeting and will continue to be presented as the THA Board now considers establishing new rental qualification policies and management standards.

The THA Board has kicked off reviews, is discussing possible directions, and analyzing data to make informed decisions regarding the Rental Housing Policy. The goal is to ensure the efficacy and fairness of existing regulations. As no decisions have been made, staff will present information, guide discussion, and field questions and feedback from the board and the public to inform the direction of future revisions, if needed.

The policies passed by resolution on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Click here to review the final, adopted policies.
