The Town of Telluride Parks & Recreation Department is making significant improvements to the Town Park Core Area, focusing on public spaces, recreational facilities, and infrastructure that benefit residents and visitors alike. These updates aim to make our downtown and surrounding areas safer, more accessible, and more enjoyable year-round.

Project Overview

    • Surfacing and perimeter improvements to support community gatherings, special events, sports courts, and the winter ice rink.
    • Original design completed in 2021 and updated in 2025.
    • Partial carryover from 2025 in terms of scope and budget allocation.
  • Warner Field Safety Netting
    • Installation of new outfield fencing and safety netting on part of Warner Field.
    • Full design completed in 2025.
    • Includes a new center-field gate to improve pedestrian circulation for special events and the general public.

Project Goals & Benefits

    • The proposed concrete surface will improve summer drainage and winter ice-making conditions.
    • A management plan will be developed and approved by the Parks & Recreation Commission to ensure fair and equitable use.
  • Warner Field Safety Netting:
    • Protects surrounding facility users during adult softball games.
    • Potentially opens Core Area availability on Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday evenings and Saturday mornings/afternoons during adult softball season (mid-May through late-July).
    • Includes a new center-field gate to improve flow exiting Town Park during large events.
