Before construction begins, the contractor will spend about a week mobilizing. This includes delivering equipment, setting up the work zone, marking utilities, and preparing for the removal of sidewalks and ramps.

Join us to learn about the project’s goals to improve intersections and sidewalks to meet ADA requirements. We’ll share the project timeline, explain how we’re working to reduce impacts on pedestrians and businesses, and answer any questions you may have.

Work officially begins at the intersection of Colorado and Pine Street. Crews will remove and replace concrete ramps, sidewalks, and curbs to bring this area into compliance with ADA standards. Traffic and pedestrian detours may be in place during this time.

While construction wraps up at Pine Street, crews will begin work at the Fir Street intersection. These two work areas will overlap slightly, with coordination in place to limit disruption to nearby businesses and foot traffic.

Between Pine and Willow, a mid-block crossing near Spruce Street will be improved with updated ramps and sidewalk surfaces. Work here will occur while Fir Street is nearing completion.

Construction moves westward to Willow Street. This area will receive the same accessibility upgrades, and pedestrian detours will help maintain access to businesses.

Alder Street marks the last intersection in Phase I of the project. By this point, work on all intersections between Pine and Alder (except for mid-block Spruce) will be completed or nearly complete.

Phase II begins at the eastern end of the project area with improvements to the Aspen Street intersection. Construction activity continues to be phased to limit closures to one intersection at a time.

The final intersection on the schedule is Oak Street. This portion will wrap up all major construction and accessibility improvements on Colorado Avenue.

Once all intersections are complete, crews will spend about a week cleaning up, removing equipment, completing any touch-up work, and restoring landscaping or pavement where needed.
