Town of Telluride staff will present a draft Request for Proposal for review and subsequent approval at the Tuesday, June 4 regular meeting of Town Council.

Commercial Site Walk & Public Forum

The Town of Telluride hosted a public forum on Monday, May 6, at 9 a.m. to gather feedback on the desired use and selection process for the Voodoo commercial space.

A brief site walk took place at Voodoo at 151 S Willow before proceeding to the Wilkinson Public Library Program Room for a brief presentation and opportunity for public feedback. The Town and CCY Architects presented details surrounding the commercial space's design and layout, followed by discussions on potential uses, including retail opportunities, cultural programming, community events, and environmental considerations.

What is the Voodoo Affordable Housing Project?

The VooDoo Affordable Housing Project is comprised of:

  • 27 units with studio, 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom rental affordable housing units, targeted for affordability to income groups in the 110% to 170% AMI range (average of 140% AMI) for San Miguel County
  • Approximately 3700 sf. of tenant-finish commercial space
  • A public restroom
  • A new Free Box approximately twice the size of the current Free Box on the N. Spruce St.

Where is the Voodoo Affordable Housing Project being built?

The VooDoo site is located at the northwestern corner of Willow St. and Pacific Ave., directly west of the Telluride Post Office. The site also includes the “Community Room” wing of the Marshal’s Building.

What has happened thus far?

The Voodoo Affordable Housing Project was approved by the Historic & Architectural Review Commission (HARC) and the Planning & Zoning Commission in 2022 and authorized for construction in December 2022.

Site work began in late January of 2023 with the demolition of existing non-historic structures and the transport and storage of two historic sheds on the property that will be repurposed in the project's design.

When is the project expected to be complete?

The Voodoo Project is expected to be completed in September 2024.
